How we do it
Treatment Approaches
We offer many treatment approaches that are designed to meet the needs of each individual.
Art Therapy
Art Therapy uses the creative process, pieces of art created in therapy, and third-party artwork to help individuals in treatment develop self-awareness, express personal values & beliefs, explore emotions, & address unresolved emotional conflicts.
Bibliotherapy
Bibliotherapy uses literature to support good mental health. Clients are provided with reading materials for guidance or self-help, to learn about mental health concerns, and for the therapeutic benefits of imaginative literature.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) explores & reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow. Through CBT, clients learn how perceptions may directly influence responses to specific situations. In other words, each individual’s thought processes inform his/her behaviors and actions.
Holistic Therapy
Holistic Therapy focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of an individual can affect other areas or ways of being.
Mindfulness Therapy
Mindfulness Therapy practices are believed to be able to help people better control their thoughts, rather than be controlled by them. Mindfulness may be fundamentally understood as the state in which one becomes more aware of one’s physical, mental, and emotional condition in the present moment, without becoming judgmental. Individuals may be able to pay attention to a variety of experiences, such as bodily sensations, cognitions, and feelings, and accept them without being influenced by them.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness strategies in order to help individuals better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions in order to achieve relief from feelings of distress.
Motivational Enhancement Therapy
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) helps individuals overcome their ambivalence or resistance to behavior change. MET focuses on increasing intrinsic motivation by raising awareness of a problem, adjusting any self-defeating thoughts regarding the problem, and increasing confidence in one’s ability to change.
Narrative Therapy
Throughout life, personal experiences become personal stories. People give these stories meaning, and the stories help shape a person’s identity. Narrative Therapy uses the power of these stories to help people discover their life purpose. This is often done by assigning that person the role of narrator, or author, of their own story.
